Call for proposals for Pick ‘n’ Mix 2012

Posted on 23 February 2012 in Dramaturgy

Settling into its new permanent home at the MAC, Pick ‘n’ Mix 2012 is a weekend-long festival featuring the very best of local music, theatre and dance. The festival will take place on the 8, 9 and 10 June 2012.

This year Pick’n’Mix is changing, it’s growing up, it’s coming of age and its coming home to the MAC. This means that we will be looking for a wider range of new and inventive shows: dance, theatre and performance art. The MAC has two theatres and lots of nooks and crannies suitable for more intimate performances and foyer events.

Pick ‘n’ Mix Festival is an unfunded initiative delivered collectively by the MAC in association with the participating companies. All companies selected to take part must commit to the aims and ethos of the festival.

Participating companies will be required to:

  • Contribute to planning and delivering the festival. These include:

◦       Contracts/Admin

◦       Programme/Event management

◦       Marketing and Sales

◦       Front of House

◦       Production and Décor

  • Participate in and contribute to marketing and sales activities
  • Meet festival deadlines and co-ordinate their own production requirements with the festival’s technical team
  • Contribute to supporting and promoting the festival in line with the overall festival guidelines

All proposals will be considered by a programming committee, which consists of members of staff from at least 3 of the funded participating companies and the MAC.
