Tinderbox Artistic Director Michael Duke has been nominated for the Kenneth Tynan Award which recognises excellence in the field of dramaturgy.

He is nominated for changing the theatre landscape in Northern Ireland over the past decade through his vision and belief in dramaturgy and the role of the dramaturg.

In particular through initiating and taking a lead on projects such as the Joint Sectoral Dramaturgy Fund which has benefited many artists and most companies in Northern Ireland, as well as having the foresight to fight for, fundraise for and defend the need to have a full time employed dramaturg at the heart of a new writing company.

Mick Duke is nominated along side Ruth Little and Max Stafford Clark. The award will be announced on the 28th of October and is run by the Dramaturgs’ Network.
