In March Tinderbox and the Children’s Law Centre staged Opening Doors at the MAC attended by Northern Ireland Education minister John O’Dowd. The production was a joint project between Tinderbox and the Children’s Law Centre’s Youth @ CLC group. Opening Doors was based on a survey of almost 1000 school children across Northern Ireland about their views on the counselling provision within schools.
The work was performed by Youth@CLC members to an audience of school pupils, teachers, youth work professionals and representatives from government departments. The two performances were followed by panel discussions with Education Minister John O’Dowd MLA, Health Committee Chair Sue Ramsey MLA, Chris Maguire, CLC, Karen Cromarty, Lead Advisor, British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, Professor Laura Lundy,BACP and Cathy Bell Department of Education; Chaired by Tinderbox Outreach Director Ciaran Mc Quillan.
Youth@CLC have been invited to show Opening Doors in Stormont on 26th June, to mark the publication launch of the full survey findings.
