360º Script Writing Festival 2012

The booking are now open for this years’ 360º Script Writing Festival organised by Tinderbox Theatre Company and BBC NI. The festival runs 25th to the 27th of January and features a range of talks and workshops. The workshops are free but it is essential to book your place. Tinderbox writers on the Meyer Whitworth Award Shortlist

Tinderbox’s award winning playwrights Jimmy McAleavey and David Ireland have both been shortlisted for the Meyer Whitworth Award for best new play by an emerging writer 2011.
Joining them on the short list of seven plays is Plan D by Hannah Khalil, which Tinderbox presented as a rehearsed, reading at the Pick n Mix festival 2009.

Fireworks Young Writers Showcase 8th September

Tinderbox annual showcase of new Northern Irish writing talent takes place on the 8th of September at the Crescent Arts Centre at 7.30pm.

This year we are serving up four quirky, funny, moving and thought provoking short pieces by Seamus Collins, Stephen Coulter, Siobhan Gilbride and Karen Quinn rehearsed and performed by a professional cast of actors.

Writers Lab 2011 applications now open

For its Writers Lab 2011 Tinderbox has teamed up with Video artist Conan McIvor to give 4 writers an opportunity to explore video, moving imagery and technology as part of their storytelling, both conceptually and practically.

FIREWORKS 2011 APPLICATION NOW OPEN

If you are a young writer aged 16 to 25 interested in writing for the stage, Fireworks might be something for you. Fireworks is a free 5 month specialised programme taking you through the process of writing a play – from idea through redrafting and into the rehearsal room.

The application deadline for this year is the 5th of May.

Tinderbox Writers Win Major Awards

Tinderbox Theatre Company achieved unprecedented success when both Jimmy McAleavey and David Ireland won Stewart Parker Trust Awards at the Abbey Theatre, Dublin.

Jimmy McAleavey was awarded the New Playwright Bursary, while David Ireland won the BBC Radio Drama Award. This is the first time that any theatre company has claimed both major awards in one year.

Two Tinderbox writers shortlisted for Stewart Parker Award

Tinderbox Theatre Company is delighted by the nominations of both Jimmy McAleavey and David Ireland for the prestigious Stewart Parker Awards, to be held in the Abbey Theatre Dublin on 23rd March 2011.

Tinderbox produced their plays concurrently in the spring of 2010, with Everything Between Us by David Ireland opening in Philadelphia on 11th March, and Jimmy McAleavey’s The Sign of the Whale having its premier one night later in the Baby Grand Studio in Belfast.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS FOR PICK N MIX 2011

Applications are now open for Emerging Companies and Artists to participate in this years Pick N Mix festival which will take place as The Brian Friel Theatre Friday the 17th to Sunday the 19th of June 2011.
The festival is a brilliant opportunity for emerging companies and artists with some track record to be part of one of the most colourful events in the performance year.
The application deadline is the 21st of March 2011.
